Finalizing the Tourism Development Plan for Caramoan

The Tourism Master Plan (TMP) composite team presented the Draft of the Tourism Development Plan for Caramoan to Tourism Stakeholders at Bosdak Resort, Daraga, Caramoan on September 7, 2013.

In accordance with Republic Act No. 9445, the Partido Development Administration (PDA) in partnership with Partido State University (PSU) and Bicol State College of Applied Sciences and Technology (BISCAST) has formulated the tourism development plan for the tourism zones in Caramoan. This Act declares that the islands of Lahuy, Cotivas, Guinahuan, Luksuhin, Balibagan and Basag, located at the northeastern coast of the Municipality of Caramoan, as national tourism zones.

In preparation for this project, the TMP team conducted site visits to all tourism facilities in Caramoan last March and carried on consultations with tourism stakeholders and land owners in Lahuy Island in July. After a year of thorough research, the team presented the draft to the tourism industry representatives such as hotel and resort owners, tour operators, tour guides, motorboat operators, land transport service providers and also, to the community residing in Lahuy Island represented by the Baranggay officials of Oring, Daraga, Gata and Gogon.

Dr. Raul Bradecina, the TMP team leader, explained that the plan aimed to optimize the economic contributions of tourism not only to the local community but also to other municipalities in the Partido district. The plan would provide sustainable strategies to protect the environment and promote the cultural heritage of Caramoan.

The Municipal Mayor, Engr. Constantino Cordial, Jr. expressed his full support in the Tourism Development Plan and encouraged all tourism and community stakeholders to actively participate in the programs of the local government and to contribute to the development and stability of the tourism industry of Caramoan.
